More detail on that proposal the US Dept. of Health and Human services has in the works to redefine the term 'abortion' to include things done in that period of time when you aren't actually pregnant. From page 17 of the
leaked document:
Therefore, for the purpose of these proposed regulations, and implementing and enforcing the Church Amendment, Public Health Service Act §245, and the Weldon Amendment, the Department proposes to define abortion as “any of the various procedures—including the prescription and administration of any drug or the performance of any procedure or any other action—that results in the termination of the life of a human being in utero between conception and natural birth, whether before or after implantation.”Anyone with half an interest in how these things actually work should know that
pregnancy is marked by implantation, not fertilization alone. The stick won't turn blue if your little blastocyst is still worming its way down the fallopian tube. You can't terminate something that hasn't even begun. So clearly this proposal is some
bad science.
More to the point, however, if passed it will allow those in the health care services to DENY you those services on the grounds that they don't like abortion. And what would 'abortion' be? Anything from the pill to the ring to the patch, whatever, man! Even if the pregnancy test can't possibly say you're pregnant yet, you'd be having an 'abortion'. No pill for you!
It's actually to keep your pain under control?
Nope! It's an abortion. No pill for you!
Oh, pregnancy's dangerous for you?
Nope! A life is a life even if it costs you yours. No pill for you!
What now? You're in a long-distance thing and haven't had sex in months?
Oh my God, that's the worst of the lot! You've been aborting little baby Jesus! NO PILL FOR YOU!
And so the Fat Old White Guys WhoCan'tGetItUp continue their efforts to make everybody behave the way they think we should, no matter how varying our wants, needs or circumstances. The sheeple clearly don't know what's good for them, afterall. What can you do?
Planned Parenthood has a form letter available. Your voice may get lost in the crowd here, but helping to make that pile desk-breaking is better than nothing.
